My Top 5 Make-up Picks!

So like a lot of girls, I own quite a bit of makeup. However, most of it I don't wear that often, and I tend to pick a few things for day wear and wear them continuously  I don't really get the chance to wear everything in my collection, and have a few things that I absolutely could not live without, so thought I'd share my top 5 picks from my make-up bag:

(Sorry about the poor photos, my camera isn't the best and I took them at night- massive rookie mistake...)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation

My god, it's expensive at £27.50, but soooo worth it. Because of it's hefty (for me anyway, I know there are more expensive ones out there) price tag, I try not to use it every day but I absolutely love it. I suffer from really oily skin and struggle to find foundations that will stay put all day, usually they don't even with power and primer, which is a bit of a pain to be honest. This gives really good coverage which isn't too heavy, which is perfect for me because I hate it when foundation looks cakey and like you are wearing a mask. It also doesn't oxidize on the skin and make you look orange, which is a pet hate of mine where foundation is concerned. I really recommend this, if only it was a little bit cheaper...!

Topshop Lipstick in Brighton Rock

Since I'm quite pale and can't be bothered to fake tan all the time, I have been liking brighter lipsticks to make myself look 'pale and interesting' rather than just ghostly white, well, hopefully! This colour is perfect- it's Topshop's 'Brighton Rock' and it's a gorgeous pink that isn't too bright and doesn't make me look washed out. It's also one of those colours that would be perfect for either daytime with a simple eye or on a night out. I can't praise Topshop lipsticks enough- they are really good quality for a lower ended brand and aren't too expensive at around £8 a pop. I went through a phase of only wearing MAC lipsticks for a while but they are so expensive and I think the Topshop ones aren't too dissimilar in quality, with a lower price tag. They have such a good colour range, 'Infrared' (bright orangey red) is also worth a go!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus

This is far too light for me, but I still love it anyway. It's not too cakey, and makes make-up stay in place much better than if I didn't use a powder, and it's also good to use throughout the day for quick touch-ups. It absorbs oil really well and makes you look flawless with a low coverage. It's also good to use on its own on good skin days. At £21.00 it's not the cheapest, but I would definitely repurchase when this one runs out as I couldn't live without it!

Benefit They're Real! Mascara

Apparently, this is the UK's top selling mascara and I can definitely see why. It just makes my eyelashes look amazing- it curls, separates, thickens, adds volume, doesn't smudge and lasts all day. The wand is brilliant- it's a decent size brush and has little spiky bits on the end (yes, technical!) which help to coat and separate those little niggly lashes that are hard to get to. I like to use the brush horizontally and 'wiggle' it from side to side and up my lashes to make sure they are all covered, and then use the end bit vertically to separate lashes that are stuck together. I wouldn't go as far to say that it makes your eyelashes look false, but it does give amazing results and doesn't clump. After having tried this, I would never use anything else ever again. At £18.50, it's a bit pricey but really worth it in my eyes (pardon the pun).

Collection (formerly Collection 2000) Extreme 24 Hour Felt-tip Eyeliner

Sorry about the photo, all the writing is rubbed off the side of the tube because I love it that much and use it all the time, which is a good thing I suppose! I cannot live without eyeliner, and have worn cat-eye flicks every day for about 4 years now. I also really like gel liners, but when I'm feeling lazy I usually cannot be bothered to fiddle around with a brush and a pot. This one is really easy to use, just draw on your eyeliner shape as if you were using a pen, simple as that. I can't remember the exact price, but it was around the £4-£5 mark, which to me isn't bad at all. It lasts all day and is very black. I really hope Collection don't discontinue this which they quite often do with products, because I would be totally lost without this in my make-up bag!

So there's my top 5 make-up picks, do you have anything in your collection that you couldn't live without? Are any of these in your must haves too? Let me know in the comments section below!

Lots of love,
Amy
